Video Editing/ Mixing for Dummies

Video Editing & Conversions made easy.

Hi - for those trying to be geeks, these are some free to use applications
which can solve all your needs for video downloads and editing / mixing etc. Only thing you have to be aware is that Videos have different formats, that creates a lot of issues. Few basic formats you need to be aware of ::
- Youtube - Mainly FLV format
- Powerpoint - Takes only AVI or MPG format
- Win Movie Maker - Input AVI / MPG/WMV formats but output is only WMV format

Stuff you can do::
a. Once you play any youtube/any-site video in this you get a 'Download this video' prompt at the right corner of the window. You can click that to download the video.
b. Having downloaded the video it gives you option of converting it into MP3-audio format.
c. You can also cut/trim the video itself through this application

2. Moyea - FLV Editor Lite - Free tool. http://www.exp-flv.com/
Stuff you can do::
a. Clip FLV files
b. Join multiple FLV files
c. Clip and Join multiple FLV files

3. Free Video Convertor - http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/

Stuff you can do::
a. Convert FLV [youtube] videos into mpg format / any format
b. MPG format is essential since this is the format for inserting videos into powerpoint presentations / editing in Win Movie Maker.
Note:: FLV videos cannot be inserted into ppt directly.

4. Windows Movie Maker[WMM]- Best free tool available for editing movies. Available free with Windows
Stuff you can do::
a. Mix pictures / videos / music
b. Edit videos and add Titles etc
c. Mix different Videos with different audios.
Note:: Windows media player only takes in AVI /MPG/WMV formats for videos. Hence youtube videos have to be converted to MPG so that you can edit them in WMM.
All edited files are finally saved as Windows Media Video format. These can be uploaded to Youtube directly.
